Confessions of A New Mom

  1. I still watch the train wreck that is MTV's "Teen Mom."  Seriously- should over 30s moms even be allowed to watch Teen Mom?!?!
  2. Multiple days go by and I don't step one foot outside.  The closest I get is opening the back door and yelling for Winnie to come inside.
  3. I do at least one, if not two or more, loads of laundry EVERY day.  My pet peeve is dirty laundry piling up- can't take it.
  4. I will do ANYTHING to see Emme Clare smile.  And I mean, anything- silly faces, farting noises, sing, clap, talk in the most annoying high pitched baby voice ever.  It's worth it for that big, gummy grin!  Good thing I'm not on Teen Mom.
  5. I still cry about Ivy.
  6. My standard uniform is yoga pants and a t-shirt (aka- sweats). I swore I wouldn't be "that mom," but I'm consistently covered in spit up or milk or poo or all of the above.  It's just not worth it!
  7. Winnie hasn't been to the groomer in over 3 months.  Poor Win!
  8. I have googled/ blogged almost every baby issue possible and at the end of the day, I can tell you that it's pretty much half and half and a lot of people have really strong opinions.  You just need to do what's best for your baby.
  9. I owe some serious thank you notes.  Thank you notes that were due prior to the birth of EC. Yikes!
  10. Sometimes I feel this tiny twinge of envy for the old me and my freedom.  But one look at the big, gummy grin and I wouldn't trade the laundry, the spit up, the exhaustion, the never-ending diapers, the lack of "me" time, the worry for anything in the world!

Get Caught Up With Us

Well, I got a little behind on blogging, so here's a bunch of new posts for you to catch up on us and what we've been up to lately.  I always tell myself I'm not going to get behind again.  It's so much easier to do a post every day or so.  But life happens!  I'll do my best!

3 Months!

It's hard to believe that another month has gone by and ECW is bigger than ever!  She's such a doll and an absolute delight for us.

We are definitely settling into a routine, but as most parents of newborns know, that could easily change at any given moment.  We had a rough couple of weeks with nursing- not eating much, only nursing on one side, crying during feedings, etc.  We had several different theories about the problem and even now, who knows?!?!  This past week, she's been great, no hint of a problem.  For the most part, she sleeps until 6:00 or 7:00.  Our goal for this month is to sleep until 7:00 or 7:30.  But I seriously can't complain!  I distinctly remember a week (or 2 or 3)  in there when I literally did not know if I would ever sleep again for more than 2 consecutive hours.  I'm such a better person now!  ha!

EC had so many firsts this month!  Her first flight, visited so many family and friends in TN, first race, first time to sleep in a real crib, first birthday party, and hosted her own first party! She handled it all like a champ!  I can definitely notice a difference when she's out of her routine, but thankfully, she bounces back pretty quick.

She doesn't have a doctor's appointment this month (yay!), so I weighed her on our home scales and she came in right at 11 pounds, 14 ounces.  She's a growing girl!

I can definitely see that she's turning into more of a "baby," instead of just a newborn.  She's really good at holdiner her head up while we hold her.  Tummy time is so-so, she gets a little bit angry when we leave her on her tummy for more than about 2 minutes.  She also does not like for us to read books to her still!  So sad for me!

Sweet Emmeline-

You are the apple of our eye!  We fall more in love with you every day.  You make it so easy with your sweet disposition and your irresistible smile.  We can't get enough of you!

You took your first flight this month and while you didn't do exceptionally well, you did just fine and I"m sure your daddy will give you another chance to prove that you are an A+ traveler.  You had so much fun visiting your dad's hometown and you got to spend so much time with Gram, Pop Pop, Aunt Ali and Granny B.

We are seeing more and more of those precious smiles.  You love it when we make silly faces at you.  We are also starting to see more of your personality.  You don't like to be cuddled quite as much as you used to.  You want to be sitting up and facing out, so you can see everything that's happening.  You don't want to miss any of the action (even if it's just you, me and Win at home).  It makes me sad, because I love a cuddly baby, but I know you're soaking in everything and it's good for you to be curious.

You're also cooing and babbling more each day.  You stare so intently at our mouths- we can see the wheels turning.  It's like you just want to figure out how we get that sound out of our mouths.

You are a precious gift from God and we love you so very much!  You are our baby girl and we treasure each day with you!

Love,
Your Mommy

Celebrating Independence Day

Emme Clare hosted her first, big party! We celebrated Independence Day with our family and friends with a backyard BBQ.

We had a great time getting ready for the big party.  We borrowed Mae Mae's new silhouette to make a USA banner.  We put white flowers in mason jars, made cupcakes, and even carved a watermelon (Thanks, MaeMae!).

We were excited that so many family and friends made it out for inaugural July Fourth Party (i.e. this is going to be an annual event).  Despite the heat, everyone had a great time!

Uncle Randy and Doc

Winnie (don't judge- she has an appointment with the groomer!)

Emme Clare loves spending time with Doc!

Cribs: Baby Edition

After months of waiting, Emme Clare has a crib!  AND her crib is decked out-- all thanks to her MaeMae.  The room is not 100% finished- as in, we have nothing hanging on the walls.  But we are getting there.  It's really hard to find time to hang things- she's either sleeping or with me, neither is a good time for hammering.

She LOVES her bumper pads!  She coos at them and grins at them.  I don't know if they are full of secret messages, but she's a big fan.

And we made it before the 3 month mark, as promised!  Let's hope we can get it completed before the 4 month mark!

Guess who else is a big fan of EC's new crib look???
