It's hard to believe that another month has gone by and ECW is bigger than ever! She's such a doll and an absolute delight for us.
We are definitely settling into a routine, but as most parents of newborns know, that could easily change at any given moment. We had a rough couple of weeks with nursing- not eating much, only nursing on one side, crying during feedings, etc. We had several different theories about the problem and even now, who knows?!?! This past week, she's been great, no hint of a problem. For the most part, she sleeps until 6:00 or 7:00. Our goal for this month is to sleep until 7:00 or 7:30. But I seriously can't complain! I distinctly remember a week (or 2 or 3) in there when I literally did not know if I would ever sleep again for more than 2 consecutive hours. I'm such a better person now! ha!
EC had so many firsts this month! Her first flight, visited so many family and friends in TN, first race, first time to sleep in a real crib, first birthday party, and hosted her own first party! She handled it all like a champ! I can definitely notice a difference when she's out of her routine, but thankfully, she bounces back pretty quick.
She doesn't have a doctor's appointment this month (yay!), so I weighed her on our home scales and she came in right at 11 pounds, 14 ounces. She's a growing girl!
I can definitely see that she's turning into more of a "baby," instead of just a newborn. She's really good at holdiner her head up while we hold her. Tummy time is so-so, she gets a little bit angry when we leave her on her tummy for more than about 2 minutes. She also does not like for us to read books to her still! So sad for me!
Sweet Emmeline-
You are the apple of our eye! We fall more in love with you every day. You make it so easy with your sweet disposition and your irresistible smile. We can't get enough of you!
You took your first flight this month and while you didn't do exceptionally well, you did just fine and I"m sure your daddy will give you another chance to prove that you are an A+ traveler. You had so much fun visiting your dad's hometown and you got to spend so much time with Gram, Pop Pop, Aunt Ali and Granny B.
We are seeing more and more of those precious smiles. You love it when we make silly faces at you. We are also starting to see more of your personality. You don't like to be cuddled quite as much as you used to. You want to be sitting up and facing out, so you can see everything that's happening. You don't want to miss any of the action (even if it's just you, me and Win at home). It makes me sad, because I love a cuddly baby, but I know you're soaking in everything and it's good for you to be curious.
You're also cooing and babbling more each day. You stare so intently at our mouths- we can see the wheels turning. It's like you just want to figure out how we get that sound out of our mouths.
You are a precious gift from God and we love you so very much! You are our baby girl and we treasure each day with you!
Love,
Your Mommy
